Q: How do wrestling boots differ from wrestling shoes? Which do you prefer?
A: Good question. First, I prefer Wrestling Boots over wrestling shoes when competing. Wrestling shoes are very light weight and made with grip in mind. Wrestling boots are made of thick leathers and are also much larger than wrestling shoes. I prefer the support in the ankle that I get with a wrestling boot in addition to a thicker and more supportive heel/sole of the footwear as well.
Q: Why do wrestlers wipe their feet before entering the ring?
A: That is a great question. I am a big advocate for wiping your feet off before you get into the ring. For one, it prevents the spreading of additional outside germs. Often times our faces end up in the canvas and I think it would be fair to say that the last thing that anyone wants is to have to do that into a dirty mat. More importantly, it is a show of respect. The ring should be treated as a sacred and respected sanctuary to wrestlers as this is their work space. Wiping your feet is a simple sign of respect to those who have came before us.
Q: In your mind, who are some west coast wrestling legends and who do you credit for putting west coast wrestling on the map?
A: That is a very cool question! The West Coast Wrestling territory has a pretty unique history. A few names that I associate with the history and success of west coast wrestling include: Freddie Blassie, Roddy Piper, Pat Patterson, and Toots Mondt among others.
