Hello Wrestling fans! Welcome to another Brand New installment of the Ryan Kidd Weekly Newsletter! We have a ton in store for you all this week following a big weekend of events. First off, I'd like to update my followers about my condition. I injured my back this weekend when I re-aggravated a prior injury from February during a match this past Saturday. I took the following day (Sunday) off from my event and am expecting to be in the ring, albeit not 100%, this upcoming weekend. I hope to keep you all updated and greatly apologize to my fans in Mexicali who missed me on Sunday. A couple of weeks back I sat down with IndyWrestling.US and the Indy Mayhem Show backstage at the 'Welterweight Wrestling 3' event in Cleveland, OH. We sat down and chatted a bit on camera covering my trip to the midwest, Welterweight Wrestling, and much more! Q: Why now the use of a mask?
A: Good question. I know that I have answered this numerous times before. I use a mask not to cover my face or to hide my identity, but rather, to display my love for the culture of Mexican Wrestling. I feel that I have adopted Mexico as my home and pay homage to the legends, trainers, and forefathers who have paved the way for me to hone my craft and train in Mexico; making me the man and wrestler that I am today.
Q: Is there anyone on the SoCal Pro roster that you want to defend your title against?
A: Of course there is! The SoCal Pro roster is so vast and open to possibility that there really isn't any lack of potential challengers.I wouldlove to defend my Golden State Championship against guys like Ju Dizz, SoCal Crazy, and even outsourced SoCal Pro talent like Psicosis or Juventud Guerrera.
Q: How did you originally hurt your back?
A: That is an awesome question. Of course, wrestling is not ballet. It is what I refer to as 'a high intensity contact sport'. Thus, injury can be commonplace in the sport. I originally hurt my back during a match this past February in Mexico. It felt like I'd blown out my lower back, pinched a nerve, or even slipped a disk. I took a week off due to the injury and competed the following week where my back blew again during a match. It was that same night that I separated my left shoulder. Taking two weeks off for those injuries to heal as best they could; when I recovered my back wasn't much of a source of worry.
During my matches last Saturday I took a bump onto my butt and compressed my spine a bit and felt that same 'give out' feeling that I had felt in February. I have yet to consult a professional however I am hoping that R&R and most importantly, time will do the trick.
