Q: How was your match with Paul London?
A: I thought that it went really well! I was very happy with the overall match although I believe the result could have been a bit different. I was surprised at how hard Paul was willing to work with me; he certainly brought his A-game! Honestly, I have no complaints. Paul was a complete professional and I hope that we get to do business again in the future. I do believe that our story has a little bit more to be written before we close the book completely...
Q: Are you looking forward to your big international SoCal Pro title defense coming up soon?
A: Of course! I look forward to almost all of my upcoming matches! This one is going to be very special seeing as it is not only my first Golden State title defense, but also the first international SoCal Pro title defense EVER! I feel a lot of pressure to represent the company and my country, but I am confident in my abilities and look forward to putting on a great show in my long awaited return to Mexicali!
Q: Did the ring actually break in the match with Paul London or was that supposed to happen?
A: Yes the ring did actually break! I could not imagine anyone on the independent level to plan that purposely given the cost and ultimate danger involved in that. What happened was Paul and I literally broke through the wooden boards and onto the steel support frame. The danger in that is far too great to willingly try something like that. While it was painful, its important to note that the shooting star press actually landed on my face and upper body. However, with the break in the ring there was a small amount of give when the impact made with my face. I honestly believe that had the ring not broken that I could have ended up even more injured! Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. Regardless, no - the broken ring was not planned.
