Q: What  are your thoughts on the unexpected retirement of Lio Rush just under two weeks away from your scheduled match against him?

A: In short: it sucks. It puts me in a position as a competitor where I'm entirely helpless to what comes next. Not only am I out an opponent of a top tier; but now, if a suitable replacement is lined up, my entire game plan has to change from that of my intended opponent Lio Rush. Sure, I've adapted to worse on shorter notice and the world will go on. From a selfish perspective I can only wish it hadn't played out the way it did. On a personal note; I am happy that Lio is able to make a comfortable personal life choice for the better of his health and family. That's commendable. I think that Lio is obviously a world-class talent and I imagine it will only be a matter of time before he makes waves in his new chapter in his life. I wish him all the best and only wish we were able to see our contest through before unfortunate circumstances changed things. I will still be in action on 6/19 at the FIST Combat "Welcome to our City" event. Lio Rush's replacement will be announced this weekend and I can assure you it will be a ground breaking announcement! Stay tuned!
