Q: I remember years ago watching wrestling in the early days of WWF and the Verne Gagne promotions; and a lot of matches were 2 out of 3 falls. Why today are there very few 2 out of 3 fall matches?
A: That's a good question. Since I primarily wrestle in Mexico I participate in more 2/3 falls matches than one fall matches but that is the norm in Mexico. With that style, I think it decides the victor more decisively. We often see matches end due to cheating or nefarious means and naturally want to see the rematch. In 2/3 falls, if one fall is won in an odd manner, there are still more falls to actually win the match. However, with one fall it makes the people want to see the rematch next time and possibly with updated rules if one competitor has made it clear they cannot follow the regular conditions of the match. Each has their own benefits, but with how frequently competitors compete against each other nowadays (especially those in a feud) it is Ok to have one fall and decide who truly is superior over the course of time rather than in one night.
Q: What are the ropes made of, I know they have a protective coating over them but what is underneath the coating?
A: There are two main different textures for wrestling ring ropes. First, the more traditional yet less common horsehair rope with a colored taped around it. The other, more commonly used is the wire cable covered in rubber hose and taped over. Both feel significantly different and give completely different rebounds.
Q: What do you know and think of your tag team partner Mike Camden for SoCalPro on the May 16th? Is it hard teaming with someone for the first time and do you train together before hand?
A: Mike and I have wrestled each other before so I feel like we know each other well enough and will team up successfully in Oceanside. It can be difficult to team with someone you haven't teamed with before or aren't exactly familiar with. However, Mike and I have been training together for months now as well as maintaining our regular in-ring schedules. I'm confident in both of our abilities as singles competitors and combined I think as a team we will shine. Even despite that though, you can't put anything past our opponents that night: Former champions and well known cheaters, Dark Usagi and Andre Machievski. Be there to see how it plays out!
